China's Sixth Type 903A Fleet Replenishment Oiler Commissioned Into PLAN East Sea Fleet

A commissioning, naming and flag-presenting ceremony of the new Gaoyouhu fleet replenishment oiler (hull number 966) of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) was held solemnly at the Zhoushan naval base in east China’s Zhejiang province. The event means that the vessel is officially commissioned in the PLAN.

India test fired its local-made Akash medium-range surface-to-air defense missile system

India on Thursday, January 28, 2016, test fired its indigenously-developed surface-to-air Akash missile as part of a user trial from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur. The missiles, with a strike range of 25 km and capability to carry warhead of 60 kg, were test fired from 11 AM to 2 PM from the launch complex-3 of the ITR.

Russia will deploy more Su-30SM fighter jets in Crimea in 2016

KAI plans to expand overseas business in 2016

Israel's Defense Ministry unveiled the first Namer APC fitted with the Trophy anti-missile system

The Defense Ministry unveiled on Thursday the first Namer armored personnel carrier equipped with the Trophy HV active protection system. Trophy – made by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems – has already been installed on Merkava MK 4 tanks, protecting them from antitank and rocket- propelled grenade attacks during the 2014 Gaza conflict.

General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has signed a contract with the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistic Organisation (DALO) for the delivery of 309 Piranha 5 8x8 Armoured Personal Carriers (APC) in six variants (Infantry, Command, Ambulance, Engineer, Mortar and Repair), as well as a multi-year sustainment contract for the through life support of the vehicles in the future.

U.S. Navy Releases Video to Illustrate the Surface Force Distributed Lethality Concept

The U.S. Navy Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMNAVSURFPAC) just released a video to illustrate the Distributed Lethality Concept. The distributed lethality concept was introduced (and is being advocated) by Vice Admiral Thomas Rowden, the Commander of the U.S. Navy's surface forces. It can be summarized by fitting more weapons on more vessels in order to "deceive the enemy, target the enemy, and destroy the enemy".

Oscar II Submarine Orel Damaged by Fire to Join Russian Navy by Yearend After Repairs

Peruvian Army takes delivery of final batch of Mi-171Sh-P helicopters

Russia has finished the supplies of 24 Mi-171Sh-P (NATO reporting name: Hip-H) utility helicopters to Peru, according to a source in the Russian defense industry. "On January 14th, the last three helicopters were delivered to Peru by An-124 aircraft.
