Defense Industry of India to conduct first test of PDV Prithvi Defence Vehicle in January 2014.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) of India is on the way to conduct the first test of its newly developed interceptor missile from a defence base off the Odisha coast in January 2014. The missile, dubbed as Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV), has the potential to destroy enemy missile with a strike range of around 2,500 km outside the earth’s atmosphere (at an altitude of over 150 km). Only a few countries in the world have such a capability.
The Advanced Air Defence (AAD) interceptor missile also has destroyed the target missile at an altitude of 15 to 30 km.

United States army starts suvivability tests with new ULV Ultra Light Vehicle hybrid armoured

Two of the three vehicles in the Army's ULV "Ultra Light Vehicle" program have now entered survivability testing in Nevada and Maryland, to evaluate both their blast and ballistic protection capability. The third vehicle remains at the Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center, known as TARDEC, for testing there.
The Ultra Light Vehicle is a hybrid vehicle that includes lightweight advanced material armor, lightweight wheels and tires and other automotive systems, blast-mitigating underbody technology and advanced command, control, communications, computers and more.

Russian army to deploy three new regiments of S-400 surface-to-air defense missile system

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday, November 28, 2013, Russia would deploy three new regiments equipped with S-400 surface-to-air missile systems next year, with more advanced radar stations to be launched.

Ukraine has started the delivery of T-72 main battle tanks to Ethiopian army

In November 2013, Ukraine's state-controlled arms exporter, Ukrspecexport SC, has begun delivering the upgraded T-72 main battle tanks and related parts to the Ethiopian military. The delivery is a contract signed in 2011 between Ethiopia's defence ministry and the Ukrainian arms firm to purchase 200 T-72 tanks for an amount of $100 million.

Russian army will be equipped with S-500 new surface-to-air missile defense system for 2020.

Five batteries of S-500, the new Russian-made surface-to- air defense missile systems will equip the Russian army under arms program for 2020 , announced Thursday, November 28, 2013, the commander of the aerospace defense troops, Alexander Golovko.
The S-500 is a new generation of Russian-made surface-to-air missile system, designed for intercepting intercontinental ballistic missiles and for defense against Airborne Early Warning and Control, Airborne Warning and Control System, and jamming aircraft.

Twenty-two land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles will next year be added to Russia’s nuclear arsenal, President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday, November 27, 2013. “We intend to continue prioritizing the development of the main component of our strategic nuclear deterrent,” Putin said at a meeting on the development of the Russian Strategic Missile Forces.

Russia armed forces create new Pantsir-S air defense regiment to protect the sky of Moscow.

Russian air defense forces have taken delivery of six Pantsir-S short-range air defense systems to be used by a new missile regiment formed to protect the skies over Moscow, military officials said Wednesday, November 27, 2013. The Pantsir-S battalion is set to form part of a third S-400 air defense missile regiment deployed near the Russian capital.
The Pantsir-S is armed with two 2A38M 30mm automatic anti-aircraft guns developed from the two-barreled 30mm GSh-30 gun, coupled with twelve 57E6 surface-to-air missiles on launchers.

France sends 1,000 more soldiers in Central African Republic to secure the country.

France will send around 1,000 more soldiers to the Central African Republic (C.A.R.) , French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in a radio interview. About 400 French troops are already in the Central African Republic, the French Defense Ministry said, where they are deployed to protect French nationals and help secure the airport in the capital, Bangui. France is a former colonial power in the Central African Republic.

The United States Army recently purchased 36 Maveric UAS Unmanned Aerial Systems as a result of an urgent request from Soldiers in combat. The request was made to the Rapid Equipping Force, or REF, at Fort Belvoir, Va., in March, and Soldiers will receive them by December.

With two direct hits Diehl Defence proved the IRIS-T SL (Surface Launched) surface-to-air guided missile`s operational capability and performance. The United States Army is looking for a few good ideas. The Army’s Rapid Equipping Force is looking to turn soldiers’ homespun ideas into hot new equipment for troops with a new collaborative tool called Army Co-Create. The U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force recently launched ArmyCoCreate.com, a website for Soldiers to identify tactical challenges and collaborate for solutions.

USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) Littoral Combat Ship Launches First MQ-8B UAV, Demonstrates Capability

USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) conducted dynamic interface operations on the Point Mugu Test Range Nov. 5-13 with the Navy's Vertical Takeoff Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (VTUAV) known as the MQ-8 Fire Scout. Although Fire Scouts have been used in the fleet onboard frigates, LCS is the first platform designed from the keel up to integrate and operate these unmanned helicopters.

Boeing Delivers 1st P-8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) to Indian Navy

Boeing delivered the second P-8I aircraft to India today, doubling that country’s long-range maritime reconnaissance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities. Boeing is building eight P-8I aircraft for India and delivered the first in-country in May. Based on the company’s Next-Generation 737 commercial airplane, the P-8I is the Indian Navy variant of the P-8A Poseidon that Boeing has developed for the U.S. Navy.
