The flagships of the Royal Navy and the Marine nationale are lined up to work side-by-side next year to demonstrate the progress made between the two fleets. Russia sells armored vehicles BMP-T, BTR-82 and TOS Buratino in Kazakhstan

The Kazakh military will take delivery of 12 BTR-82 8x8 wheeled armored personnel carriers, three Buratino heavy flame-thrower tracked vehicles, and three BMP-T Terminator tank support fighting vehicles. The latter can carry the 9M120 Ataka-T (AT-16 Scallion) anti-armor missile.

In September 2011 the second batch of 3 Mi-171Sh military transports was delivered to the Defence Ministry of Peru under a contract signed by Rosoboronexport, JSC in 2010 for the delivery of 6 Mi-171Sh helicopters. Helicopter manufacturer - Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (UUAP), part of Russian Helicopters. The first batch of 3 Mi-171Sh helicopters was delivered to Peru in May 2011.

Russian defence industry unveils new home made light wheeled tactical vehicle Skorpion-2M

In October 2011, the Russian Defence industry unveils a new light tactical vehicle, the Skorpion-2M. A video of the vehicle was show on the press agency web site RIA Novosti. This RIA Novosti video footage shows the capabilities of the Skorpion-2M vehicle which may replace the famous UAZ off-roader.

Turkish army continues military operations against the PKK terrorists' camps in Iraq

Turkish Army continues operations in the territory of Iraq to strike on PKK terrorists’ camps. About 15 000 Turkish soldiers have gathered on Turkey-Iraq borders. Thirty two rebels of the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in a large-scale operation in Cuukurca town of Hakkari province in southeastern Turkey late Friday and early Saturday, private Dogan news agency reported on Saturday.

President Barack Obama announced the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq by the end of 2011

All American soldiers will be pulled out of Iraq by the end of the year, President Barack Obama has announced this Friday, October 21, 2011. He ordered a complete withdrawal from the country, nearly nine years after the invasion under President George W Bush. About 39,000 US troops remain in Iraq, down from a peak of 165,000 in 2008.
The United States army troops are deployed since February 2003 in Iraq.

Royal Australian Navy rules out French and Spanish submarine designs

Australian Defence officials have revealed that at least two possible contenders for the navy's new submarine fleet, the Spanish S-80 and French Scorpene class boat, have been ruled out of the future submarine project.

Swedish government and SAAB have submitted a Gripen multirole fighter aircraft sale offer to Croatia

The Swedish Defence and Security Export Agency (FXM) invited Croatian media to a press briefing in Zagreb to present the Swedish Gripen offer that has been submitted to the Croatian government. Through FXM, the Swedish Government submitted an offer including the sale of either twelve or eight of the latest version of Gripen C/D. The offer also includes a support and training agreement for pilots and technicians.

British Royal Navy ships and Royal Air Force aircraft have continued operations this week to help safeguard the Libyan people as part of NATO's Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR. October 13, 2011, afternoon, an armed reconnaissance patrol of RAF Tornado GR4s was alerted by another NATO surveillance platform to the presence of three former Gaddafi regime armed trucks hidden beneath trees to the east of Bani Walid.

United States soldiers were sent in Uganda to help hunt down the leader Joseph Kony

President Barack Obama is sending about 100 United States soldiers to Africa to help hunt down the leaders of the notoriously violent Lord's Resistance Army in and around Uganda. U.S. military personnel advising regional forces working to target Kony and other senior leaders will not engage Kony's forces "unless necessary for self-defense," Obama said.

UAE's Baynunah Muti-Mission Corvette successfully completes testing program

The first of six multi-mission corvettes ordered by the UAE has successfully completed all of its testing program. Designed and assembled by CMN Cherbourg the Baynunah left the Atlantic French Shipyard to reach the Persian Gulf. The vessel will then undergo a further testing period of four months to test its weapon systems and sensors, prior to its acceptance by the UAE Navy and its commissioning.

Daewoo to sign $1.1 bln submarine deal with Indonesia by November

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Engineering said on Monday that it aimed to seal a $1.1 billion agreement with the Indonesian government by November to build three submarines.
The South Korean shipbuilder said in a statement that this would mark the first exports of submarines from the country.
"We have launched talks to sign a submarine contract with Indonesia's defense ministry and marine," Daewoo said in a statement.
